I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but everything I have seen from US Wings is lacking in authenticity, and of poor quality. They have a bad reputation within the reenactor world.
The khaki shirts that claim to be based on a WWII USAAF pattern have some kind of odd inverted bellows on the front pockets. The front pocket flaps are also shaped wrong. I can't speak for the pants, but the shirts I have seen are instantly recognizable and not in a good way. I could only guess they would take the same attitude with the manufacture of their pants.
The jackets and crushers I have seen from them are also inaccurate and lacking in quality.
Unless it is a *really* good sale, and you just want something to wear around town, I would avoid them.
Agreed, U.S. Wings is for those who don't know better. Their khakis are way overpriced for what they are, as well.
Sears & Roebuck actually make a poly / cotton work shirt and flat-front pant that are almost dead-on as far as pattern goes(mitered-corner pocket flaps) and won't break the bank. Down side, it's poly-cotton, up side, even at 5-10 feet it's tough to tell it's not an exact repro. Swap out the buttons for old ones and it's even tougher to tell. I've got a set that's decent for just kicking around town or an airshow ramp.
Here's a picture of me in mine(wow, that shirt needs blousing):
I agree, Sears Workwear khakis are not bad for the price. I have a pair of the pants that I bought when I needed something for a reenacting event but didn't have time to shop around. I have a pair of original WWII khakis and they compare pretty favorably, with the exception of having a zipper fly and the fabric - but for $20 I can't complain. They are a blend, but if you need something in a hurry or just want something that looks decent without breaking the bank, they're not a bad option.
US Wings is just overpriced for what they're selling.
And their customer service is the worst! I bought a crusher from them, and in addition to incredibly poor quality, they stiffed me on the refund They refused to answer any letters, and all this while I was on active duty for Iraqi Freedom! :rage: They claim to be pro-military, but they speak lies when they say they support the troops. Stay as far from US Wings as you can.
