We have a thread for the men to show their duds.
I don't want everybody to think we are just a lounge full of burly men who smoke cigars and drink fire water, We have to remember that there are ladies present as well.

I know this is the suit section, but I think we should allow the ladies to have some fun too... vintage or vintage style attire appreciated.

whether it be a suit or a dress, just show us your best.

Matt,

I know that this subject is about the ladies attire but I was curious what style Fedora is Rob wearing in the above photo and what color is it?

By the way everyone in the photos looks great!

Man I wish the swing thing was still over here. I loved it when LADIES were actually dressing nice. I guess it may still be around in Atlanta. Almost everyone here is into the goth or thug thing and the only dance clubs are booty shake or techno. You've really got it made out there.

Valerie's dress in the top pic is amazing. Very nice. K

Not to bump this up or anything but...

My wife and I have been looking for some vintage stuff for her because I actually talked her into coming along to the Queen Mary event this year. We were just in a big shop locally here in town and looked thru some of Arts stuff online.

Then we were over at Sears today anddiscovered they have this huge section of Vintage style clothing (on sale no less) and after comparing it to what I saw the last few days, it didn't seem too bad. And she could easily find stuff in her size.

I know, I know, blasphemey, buying NEW vintage from Sears... but whatever it takes, right!?!

Right!!! I may be known as one of the most hard core vintage guys here, but when it comes to the ladies stuff, there are so many good repros that a lady can buy something new and still have the right look. But, there is a catch! The lady needs to have her hair and makeup done correctly to pull off the look. If that isn't done, it doesn't work. I have seen girls in 100% vintage dresses and their hair and makeup isn't done right. It doesn't look vintage.

Cheers.

You guys have got it made. No worries about fancy hairstyles involving ratts, make-up and polished nails to get the vintage styles right.

I bought several vintage hats, vintage ladies dresses and 2 piece suits from various merchants. I don't have pictures of all the styles. I bought some vintages dresses/suits from the 1940s and 1950s from Vintage Silhouettes. This past month, I got two hats, five pairs of gloves from there too. :) Finding the perfect comfortable vintage shoes/accessories has been harder.

Maybe, later I'll worry about make-up and hairstyles for extremely long hair. I am not crazy about the thigh-hi with the seams in the back. Here's a pic of a green gabardine two-piece suit without all the footwork. The dress looks perfect on display, and doesn't need any alterations to fit me. I don't have any favorites. I'll just have to ask Jamespowers about it next time. My Husband will always give me an honest answer. ;)

Regards,
Lady Powers

(Originaly Posted by Jitterbugdoll:My favorite WWII suit (it's a lovely shade of red)

First, I need to welcome Jitterbugdoll by saying WOW! Now that suit is just devine! You do your hair very well! You got it down!

So, you like swing dancing? Have you been over to California for any big dances? I try and go twice a week. It's all about Hollywood lindy for me!

Root.

PS. Lady Powers, welcome to the lounge! Good to have you and your photo of a really nice green gab suit! Yes, us guys have it a little easier, but still, it's hard to get a period looking hair cut these days. But, if the effort is put in to the look, it will amaze you how many complements you will get! It's the little things that make the look work.

I need to drop a few pounds to squeez back into some of my favorite suits! Ah, I miss wearing them!
