Looking for an aviator jacket

Hello everyone,

I'm looking forward an aviator flight jacket in A1 style but with textile / cotton material. I did lot of research on internet but I never found a nice good looking quality jacket. If you know where I can find this kind of jacket, please let me know.

Regards,

Julien

Oh this just got interesting!

I would love to find exactly the same: I love the a1 style, but prefer canvas or waxed cotton to leather (don't beat me up!), and would definitely be interested in something like that.

Something like this:

Which is off the Simmons Bilt Instagram feed, but doesn't seem to be something they actually make... (and the colour is wrong for what I'm after, but that's pretty moot at this point)

Or this -

Which might be Schott.

I have already seen the Schott, I don't know the material used but I'm very fond of this jacket.

Try Steve Sellers at the Greatest Generation. He's pretty open to custom projects and I think he could do a one off for you.

Look up his name and you will see the m-422a he made for me. We had also discussed making an Amelia jacket for my wife which would have involved some creativity on his part, so I know he is up for a challenge.

It also seems he works with Skyhawk from Headwinds who makes an A-1. Perhaps Steve could get some pattern tips from him for your jacket.

Just a thought.

Hi guys, we have been kicking around this very idea at Headwind mfg now for some time. I have been sourcing the right material for the project. Ours version will be a canvas outer material with a 100% cotton sateen lining. It is going to be a future production, we have a few more projects in the works at the moment to complete before the canvas A-1.

I can definitely make up a custom jacket before we get it into production if anyone wants one though.

All the best,
Jay

Hi Jay,

It seems to be a good project. Keep us inform about the progress with pics. I want to see the result as I really don't have a precise vision about my need. Maybe your project would fit me perfectly.

I've seen quite a few of these in 'non specialist' stores and on websites this year. Seems to be a 'thing' in fashion this season. If you look on the Yoox website there were a few on there I seem to remember.

I remember seeing the Schott one posted above before and liking that myself, I also had one from The Cockpit which I bought from their NYC store a few years ago.

I just found a great source for Duck Canvas. Looks like we can get White, Cream, Golden Brown, and Medium Brown colors. We will probably construct our production model out of the Med Brown with the Tan cotton liner and Light brown knits. I will upload some sample shots when I get a chance.
