Lining is thick, substantial, quality wool. When I ordered 2 months ago right after they went live, wool was the only liner choice. Construction is solid. I am thinking of ordering another jacket. I am a cheap ba***rd and have a big problem justifying paying north of $1000 for a jacket. So I go vintage and Hercules.

Do you generally think that lamb leather is not good?

@ToAll

Found some Italian Jackets

Piero Tucci with long tradition from Florence
https://www.pierotucci.com/en

D'Arienzo, established 1991. Some actors from the Gomorrah series have worn these jackets.

100% Made in Italy.
Probably no jackets to lie in a trench or to fly a Stuka dive bomber
But if the quality and the price are right and it is 100% made in Italy, perfect!

It's not what he thinks, this is acually fact. Lambskin leather is cheaper, less durable and doesn't age beautifully. It is mainly used by the fashion brands that want you to change your jacket every year at least. Are you looking to change often or for something to keep for years?

No, lamb leather is thin and soft, and has poor durability, i would not spend money on it.
To be honest i would not really buy a jacket from any of the brands you have mentioned.
Other than Legendary USA they have all been what we call "mall jackets", cheap seasonal fashion jackets made from thin leather that are IMO very expensive for what they are.

I think you are better off buying a good jacket not made in Italy, it seems you attach more importance to the provenance of the jacket than the quality of it...

Edit: usually if you read this: "The Nappa lambskin leather is treated in a unique way to make it even softer to the touch." Run away!

If a manufacturer is trying to sell you "the softest nappa lambskin" you are buying crap leather!

I have watched the first three seasons of Gomorrah, it is probably my favourite series so far :)
Their jackets were really not special though, so I would forget that aspect.

There are definitely some Italian makers doing very good work, after all the Italian tanneries produce some of the best leathers available. A lot of the leathers we love here are produced near Pisa.
A better way to look for good Italian makers would be maybe to contact the Consorzio della pelle al vegetale
http://www.pellealvegetale.it/

They are formed of some of the best tanners in Italy such as Badalassi.

Edit: If you only want a jacket for 3 - 4 years then these you are looking at will do the job.

And I always thought lamb leather was something special

But as I said at the beginning, I have no idea about leather :D

I've noticed that Orvis has switched over in the past year from lamb to goat for the majority of their leather jackets.

Unfortunately Thedi's jackets are way above OP's budget.

But it's not like the OP budget wouldn't allow him to buy a real jacket.
I have bought Schott, Aero, Vanson and Lewis Leathers used but basically unworn on eBay for less than the OPs budget.
You can find great things with lesser known names for €250 and less.
It's pretty easy to find a great jacket sub €500 if you aren't set on buying Italian fashion...
