Looking for that special Cal Leather/Al Leather "Leatherman" LAPD/CHP

Hey everyone, I've been searching my life(not so much though) for the classic Cal/Al's Leather style of leatherman CHP jacket, basically the LAPD, but with no belt loops, and padded shoulders and elbows, boy, I'm in love with that style for the particular reason that since I saw Queen's Don't Stop Me Now video, I fell in love with Freddie's Jacket, and guess what, this is what he was wearing!!!

So after many investigation, I got to the fedora lounge, and started seeing people who knew a lot about these and wanted to give a try, if anybody can help me or is willing to sell his jacket, please reach.
I'm a size 40 on the chest(or around that), prefering something that fits well, instead of bulky.
I'm also sharing this pics of the model I'm looking for reference

That is a very nice jacket. Some of the online sites do have them at acceptable prices. I was able to get mine from a fine member here. However, I am not selling. Those padded LAPD types were produced for several decades. Mine is the oldest production. You can spot the older ones by the hide and construction quality and other factors that can be complicated to evaluate.

Yeah Brother, I understand you, these Jackets are one of a kindn they don't appear as much though, this is the only place I've seen multiple ones in the same picture XD, just found one, an Al's Leather in marketplace though it's too damn short, might give it a try

Yes, I have been trying to talk to Gwen from Cal Leathers for a long time, during summer, we talked a lot about this potential jacket on Instagram for a moment (the only place where she answered me) but then she disappeared and I still try to talk to her now that I have the money, nothing however, they don't seem to be very attentive to their networks.
And since I'm not from the US, calling doesn't help me that much. I don't know anyway of contacting her.

CHP/CAL's with the padded shoulders & elbows do not come up as often. They are out there but typically quite expensive. Langlitz makes something really similar, they are quite responsive and could get you into the production queue, and it will be made to your dimensions. You would be looking for a Padded Columbia less the belt loops.

Yeah, Im' not really a fan of the Langlitz COlumbia, it's something in the body of the jackets that I don't like, I'm just going by the idea, that if I really do invest on a new jacket fro a big price, I better do it on Cal

If I were you, I’d try reaching out to her several times via Instagram and scheduling a time to talk via phone, stating your serious intention to buy. Talking too long via chats without buying anything would make her feel like she wastes too much time to type up messages while not making any money in returns. She operates a business; she is not some leather-jacket enthusiast to discuss theories and thoughts.

This was my thought as well. We’ve seen it here many times with a variety of makers, and I don’t blame them when they cut off contact with a potential customer. Some sales are just not worth the time and effort…

Good thing to do, you're absolutely right, now that I have the money, that's all I want. Sometimes she does post in instagram, one of these days, I'll do it, I know. What else can I do also XD.

This is the stated policy on Cal Leather’s website. Once you’ve paid, you are then contacted to discuss what options you want on your jacket. From a business standpoint, without payment, it’s just talking about nothing.

Yeah, I tried to do that, but when I got to the part of shipping, the only option is in the US, so IDK.

This is by far my favorite Cal pattern! I’ve been a huge Freddie Mercury and Queen fan for many years, and I had my eye on his jacket from the very beginning.

I didn’t stop searching until I finally managed to get one. Back then my research took some time: I first thought he might have been wearing a Vanson MK2, but the specs didn’t line up. Then I considered a Langlitz Columbia, but that didn’t match either. Eventually I landed on the Cal-Leather crosszips, and that’s when I started hunting for Cals on the 2nd hand market.

Btw, I wrote this post about Freddie's jacket when I visited the Sotheby's exposition in London.

I’ll keep an eye out in case I see a Cal like that in size 38, mate.

I believe the jacket we were talking about will be a little too big, si if you do keep an eye, I'll be forever gratefull to you brother! Who knows what might be found in the future!
