"Jenn, your Ayn Rand books for your English class arrived".

"Can I pick them up"?

"Not yet...".

Two of my thugs sleeping on the worktop. The pale ginger is Aubrey, and the fat tabby is Obelix. There is, sadly, no Mathurin - he died two weeks ago. Fortunately Obelix the Tank has stepped nobly into the breach....

ThankfulGirl, Fruno, Bob, Woodtroll, Joe, I thank you all most sincerely for your kind words. The poor little girl developed a cancerous mass under her tongue and had barely been able to eat for the last couple of weeks. Her Vet called Monday night while she was still under their care to tell me there was nothing they could do, so it all seemed to happen so fast that I'm still trying to process it all. This wasn't our first time saying goodbye to one of our "babies", but Shadow attached herself to me in a way that none of our other cats had. Anyway, thank you all again!

Got to meet the new member of the fur-baby family today (our daughter put a deposit on her for us last weekend). We bringing her home on the 13th. Currently weighing in at 13 ounces at six weeks...We’re naming her “Bear Scout”...
Well, that's better than "Bear Scat". :p She's a cute little thing, and maybe some day soon she'll give those bears a run for their honey.

Yeah, I didn't let Jenna get near the business end. He was a big boy, at least a 15" shell from stem to stern.

The river's not far away, but to get where we found him, he needed to cross the bike path, scale the levee, cross a busy street, then scale the very large front yard hill of the Masonic Temple, where we found him.
