I have taken a real liking to Milan straw. Here is an old Resistol. There's real (hardly legible) light embossing on the leather sweat that says Ball Stores Muncie Indiana.

I purchased the Milan (that Art created) from Bill Hughes last week. It is waiting for me to pick up at my US address. Will arrive in time for the last few weeks of summer. I am excited to finally own a VS Milan.

Looks like I have a sister-hat, a Stetson Premier Open Road. And I agree; a very soft, light and easy wearing summer hat.

I was excited to find it. I'm sure others exist, but I haven't seen another Milan weave OR. The liner tip and size tag are missing but, like yours, the hat is in great shape for a straw that is 60 or 70 years old.

Mine is very similar to the old ad logo. In the later years, the Cox logo was much more blocky in appearance.

A question for the good folks here…I really like Panamas but as a certified hat nut I like the idea of some Milan hats too. Variety’s sake of course. I saw the “Santino” Milan from Capas and they advertise it as actual wheat straw. Anyone have any experience with it? I have a Panama and some linen newsies from Capas and I like their stuff, and the dimensions sound nice for this too.

Can anyone point me to a hat maker, who is working with natural milan straw currently? Someone mentioned Cody Wellema, but he was unfortunately impacted by the Altadena fire and does not appear to be actively making hats at this time. Anyone else using milan? Thanks!
