Moc Toe boots

I've been eye-balling some new moc-toe boots, but I'm having a hard time wearing out the ones I have (going back 20-years). All Browning kangaroos...

I found a pair of GH Bass Quail Hunter boots in their sale - reduced to £80 but the fit was too small for me and Sadly they had run out of larger sizes. If you’re in the U.K. they’re worth checking out and they offer a free returns service and the Quail Hunter comes in a variety of ‘lace heights’.

Greeting All:
Hey Bob, here’s some Browning made in USA shorties. Got em not long ago for cheap. Impressive leather and very comfy. I’ve always liked Browning stuff. Guess that’s why they are still around. Be well. Bowen

Hey folks,
I was recently watching Stranger Things (awesome series, btw) and noticed the moc boots worn by one of the main characters. They have a white Vibram Christy sole (shown in another scene) and they look unique to me as the boot upper appears to be a separate piece stitched onto the vamp, as you can see in the following screenshot:

The series is set in the 1980s so they may be vintage. Can anyone identify these?

I just bought another pair. The price was right. Ordered size 10D. The box said 9D. The shoe said 10 2E. It doesn't feel wide. It actually feels okay. I may keep them. I may send them back. It's psychological. I don't like the thought of having fat feet.

Red Wing model no. 877.

Initial impression is that they feel good. No discomfort or pain. My feet slipped right in, and they felt good. I bought my Brannock size. Not a 1/2 size down.

The Red Wing wedge sole is soft and comfortable. There's no shank, which I didn't notice.

Allen Edmonds Yuma. Now discontinued.

A real Moc Toe, where the apron toe piece is stitched to the vamp. Not a real moccasin.

Bison. Thick, durable. Now broken in to wrap my foot. Single piece of leather for the vamp, wrapping around the foot. It's built like a lot of other Allen Edmonds with a cushioned footbed, and fully leather lined. Amazing comfort.

Discount clearance price was about $100. Adjusted for inflation, that would be about $250 today. In the same price range as Allen Edmonds Shoe Bank specials.

I like them. Good shoe for getting groceries.

From the same catalog. On the same page. Cascade model. Decorative moc toe stitch - similar to a very famous Germany's WWII-era leadership fighting shoe. Padded collar. Lug sole. Polishable black, full grain leather. Fully leather lined and a cushioned footbed. By modern standards, I can go from office attire to jeans. Very comfortable.

A lot of criticism over the modern Allen Edmonds being made with lower cost components. Yet, here I have a shoe over a decade old. The shoe did not spontaneously combust. What's important for me, is that it's comfortable.

They have been exposed. Bonded leather midsole. Over a decade of use. They did not melt away from rainfall, or dry out and crumble away. It could be pointed out that the reconstituted leather scraps are lighter, more flexible, and completely impenetrable against rain. I'm wearing them in the rain today.

These are my 1000 Mile cap toe. They are nothing special. Just like my other 1000 Mile Boots. Comfortable. Acceptable quality. I haven't slipped. My feet don't hurt. But not a Germany's WWII-era leadership Fighter.

Of the Moc toes that I own, these "feel" the best on my feet. Not the most durable work boots. Not the thick heavy leather. Sometimes you just don't need the most durable work boot. These are really just built for casual wear. And that's why they are comfortable. I'm just walking in them.
