BBC, CBC, ABC (Australia), etc. all broadcast (& stream for us in the US) modern audio theater that's fairly easy to find. Things are picking up in this country, but the growth is in the internet distribution so far. As the quality picks up and the commensurate audience gains come along we're sure to hear regular broadcast slots in places like NPR stations.

"Unshackled!" has been on continuously since 1950 and Focus on the Family does "Adventures In Odyssey", both of which are fine programs.

Of course, if a program has a special appeal – such as these devotional programs – it can outlast trends and demographics for a very long time, especially if it keeps a relatively low profile as time goes on.

The longest-running program on Chicago radio - 60 years - consisted of one man talking about bowling. (If it had been any bigger deal than that it probably couldn't have lasted 60 years.)
