My wife's getting a new hat!

She's amenable to wearing summertime hats, but I'm trying to encourage her to upgrade her style a little, hat-wise (she wears a beat-up canvas hat she got at Disney World). Hopefully this hat will find a place on those dressy outdoor occasions. I don't think she's ready for fall and winter hat wearing just yet, but I'm working on it.

Alan, at first glance I think the seller is wrong. It's pretty indicative of the 50s to early 60s style. Not being sure I called in "The Boss" and her words were " it COULD be 40s..but is more of a late 50s style" So, there ya go from a lady whose biz it was for a while.))
At any age it's a nice looking lid!!

That is a superb hat and I am sure she will be elated to get it. I am not completely sure of the age but I think Art is more than likely right. The long ribbon---shaped brim and crown all give it quite a stylish character no matter when it is from. One thing for sure it is nothing that Stetson has made in the last 30 years. ;)

Typeface

It's interesting that no one mentions the typeface used
for "Stetson" on the "sweatband" (quoting here 'cause it
won't stop a lot of sweat). No way that type design is from
the 40s. Could be 50s but is probably early 60s.

But as everyone says, 'whatever'. That's a heck of a
piece of weaving and design. Great find.

Great looking hat!
Looks a liitle like Ilsa's in "Casablanca"- liitle smaller brim, but similar.

Let's see, Stetson women's typeface. Our example:

A few of my wife's examples:

The type face in the first one seems to match the straw hat but it is a label and not directly onto the sweatband. My top example is from a 1940s Stetson Women's hat so the hat in question must be close around there somewhere. The bottom example might be from before that period.
