Neat photo of RAF wings on A-2's.

I came across this really neat picture of two pilots from the 4th Fighter Group. To me what is so cool about the picture is that they have both AAF wings and RAF wings painted on their A-2's. Very unusual.

Do you know the story behind that? Presumably they were among USAAF troops stationed in the UK, under the command of the RAF locally? Would that be it?

Edward, they are ex-members of the RAF Eagle Squadrons (those set up prior to the US' entrance into the War and consisting of US nationals). When the US entered the War these were transferred to the USAAF and became the 4th Fighter Group.
