Hello friends,
Many, many years ago I acquired a number of old AAC/AAF items from a family friend. Included in the collection were the following pins. Except for these two, I have never seen any others at museums, collector conventions, etc. I am guessing that these are Army Air Corps (pre-war) lapel pins that possibly saw service before the AAF winged-prop lapels. They are both sterling with cloisonne inlaid enamel. Can anybody provide some accurate history on these?

On Hiatus. Really. Or Not.
Not exactly...

These are Distinctive Insignia (DIs) for Headquarters, Army Air Forces. See page 46 of MaGuire's Silver Wings, Pinks & Greens. They are relatively common but matched set are more valuable. Officers wore DIs on the shoulder loops (epaulets).
