Folks,

Magneto and I went over to Jack's Record Cellar in San Francisco today and found that Roy has a HUGE collection of 78s, 33, and 45s. This is like the mecca out here for Golden Era music as there is just sooooo much of it. We bought a bunch of 78s and 33s and walked out after an hour and a half of gleeful searching. If you're in San Francisco, you really should check this place out. The unforunate thing is that he carries very strange hours...and even though on his business card the hours are 12pm to 7pm, Wednesday to Saturday...he's not always open and it's more than a good idea to call and make an appointment. We picked up some Sarah Vaughan, Benny Goodman, Benny with Peggy Lee, Charlie Barnet, Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra, Tommy Dorsey and alot of others. The price could not have been beat and he cut us a swinging deal because we were paying with cash.

I know we're going back, so if any of the local Loungers want to go, please let me know.

Grins,

FG.

Glad to hear that you found some good stuff. Jack's is a great place and friendly (no attitude. If you want that go to Amoeba on Haight Street!). I picked up some 78s today also. My wife and I went to an Estate Sale in Hillsborough...quick...roll down the window and smell the air that the rich folks breath!lol I got a binder of French songs by a fellow named Jean Sablon from '42 and some Beethoven for times when I'm feeling 'high brow'..;)

Let me know next time you get that record expedition planned. I can always use more 78s and 45s. Cheers! Sefton

Jack's is in the lower Haight on Scott street right? If it's the same place I'm thinking of, I used to go there quite a bit when I lived in that neighborhood.

I think it's time to go record shopping again!
