Folks,
Magneto and I went over to Jack's Record Cellar in San Francisco today and found that Roy has a HUGE collection of 78s, 33, and 45s. This is like the mecca out here for Golden Era music as there is just sooooo much of it. We bought a bunch of 78s and 33s and walked out after an hour and a half of gleeful searching. If you're in San Francisco, you really should check this place out. The unforunate thing is that he carries very strange hours...and even though on his business card the hours are 12pm to 7pm, Wednesday to Saturday...he's not always open and it's more than a good idea to call and make an appointment. We picked up some Sarah Vaughan, Benny Goodman, Benny with Peggy Lee, Charlie Barnet, Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra, Tommy Dorsey and alot of others. The price could not have been beat and he cut us a swinging deal because we were paying with cash.
I know we're going back, so if any of the local Loungers want to go, please let me know.
Grins,
FG.
