I have a couple of new acquisitions and my first two DIY projects I would like to post for everyone's viewing and criticism, constructive I hope. But I seem to have difficulties figuring out how to work this site. How do I post pics ?

Welcome,

Get a free accound at Photbucket or similar site. make sure your pics are not huge. 640x480ish seems to work well. In your photobucket account below the picture will be several choices on of the is "Direct link" Click that and copy that link.

Then

in your post here you will see an iconthat looks like a yellow square photo of mountains. Click that and paste your Direct Link and Bling. linked picture.

Adding to Magus' sage advice, consider ImageShack as an alternative to Photobucket. Either will get the job done, but I've noticed a lot of the latter's images disappearing in older posts, for whatever reason, but never had any issues with the former.

You don't need to work with the little "mountains" button. Just click the box (at ImageShack for example) that offers to let you post without extraneous information appended, then copy the URL from the little window, and paste that wherever you want in the message. Leave a little space between pics for clarity.

Like Magus said, it's a good idea to make the pictures big enough to see details but not so big that text is lost off the end of everyone's screens, which leads to inaudible grumbling and cussing.

Use the "preview post" button at the bottom of FL's reply menu, frequently, as you compose - before you hit the button next to it, "submit reply". You can make sure it is just the way you want with no hassles later. You can go back and edit later, of course.

The abundance of pictures really make this site useful and wonderful. Along with all the great and helpful folks. Good luck!
