That's what I wear, too! And I bought it in California; it was only about $12, so I don't worry about it getting ruined. (Actually, it still looks fine, even though it's more functional than fashionable.) It has a tie that keeps it on when it's windy.

light rain. Use umbrella when there is a downpour.

Worse than rain is having birds **** on your hat. This has happened twice to me. Both times on different hats. I was horrified when this happened. Fortunately, I had read, I believe on this forum, that I should let the droppings dry and then just brush it off. It was hard to just let it sit there but I did and sure enough they came off. Oh, by the way, they were my best felt hats (OPTIMOs).
