Hi Damo... These are the exact boot thats my next "as soon as I get the cash" purchase. I love the look of them and I have seen some really great reviews of them but unfortunately have no personal experience. Would love to see if anyone else here does.

Thanks for the links..looks like the Oak Street colour 8 is the same as the 1000 mile cordovan colour. It would be interesting to hear about the comfort of these boots. I tried on the 1000 mile Morleys yesterday and compared to my Red Wing Iron Rangers and they are much more comfortable.

As of right now I'm leaning towards the Wolverine Morleys cause the leather is textured whereas the Oak Street appear to be quite smooth. I think it gives them a more casual look. Maybe I should just buy the Morleys in black and Oak Street colour 8's....

I have the Wolverine 1000's and a pair of OSB cap toes that were sent back to OSB to be resoled with a Dainite sole. My OSB are the natural chromexcel. The Wolverines were comfortable right out of the box and built on a fairly sleek last. They look a little dressier in my eye. I'm usually a size 10.5 in dress shoes and wear a size 10 in the Wolverines and added a cushioned insole. The OSB took a few days to break in, but nothing major. They fit TTS and don't really leave me room for an added insole. The toe of the OSB is a little more rounded, so it does fit wider and doesn't have the same sleek look - although it looks damn good! The natural chromexcel, the cap toe, the broguing, and the natural colored midsole really make the boot stand out and it just seems a little better built in my mind. The Wolverine is a very solid boot, but rather plain and doesn't seem to be as well built - although I'm certain it will last me for years as I have many pairs of footwear.

I would also consider a pair of Red Wing Beckhams in black.

I have a pair in the black cherry color. I got mine for about $175 a few years ago and wouldn't pay full retail for them, but I like my pair quite a bit. In a way, they are my "beater" boots. I wear a size 10 in this boot and still have room for a padded insole. They fit a bit narrow, so if you have a wide foot, I wouldn't consider the RW's. They also took a bit longer to break in than they other two pairs. I like the commando sole.

That trenchboot is remarkably similar to the Aero Jarrow boot - http://www.aeroleatherclothing.com/product-detail.php?id=2232 Can'tg be the same boot, though, as I see Aero are carrying them alongside their own, with a price tag about £100 over the Jarrow.

Grayland, thx very much for the review of those 3 boots. I have the classic moc and a pair of iron rangers fron red wing. Its funny you mentioned the black cherry boots as ive always had my eye on a pair but i would like to try out other makers (diversify my funds) 9.5 works well for me in red wings. When trying on the 1000 mile morleys size 9 definitely fit and the 8.5's fit a little tight but im sure after a few wears they would be fine.

I would love to try on a pair of oak street trenchers. Im not sure if they are sold out of any stores.

Regarding boots in general i find smooth black leather to be dressy whereas i would prefer black leather boots to have some texture like the morleys and im even considering a pair if johnny lace ups by frye. I joked about this earlier in the thread but im probably going end up with the morleys in black and colour #8 oak trenchers.

They're one of the few English shoe/boot makers who are still making things by hand in England. It doesn't look like you'll find this model stocked anywhere though, as it looks to be literally hand-made to order, with an 8-10 week delivery estimate for the UK, so will be a bit more if you're elsewhere

I spent some more time on the William lennon site last night. The tan waxy leather sole boot and their WW1 are very nice. I question if the WW1 boot with their flat gripper studs would only be good for outdoors? I imagine they would be quite slippery on other surfaces.
