Not a movie star, but he married one. This dapper prince had a perfect pencil thin moustache when he was younger, got a little more bushy in his old age.

When I was young, it was Clark Gable by a mile. Mother said he wasn't as popular until he grew that moustache. I've seen photos and movies of him without it, doesn't seem right.

I just had my mother drop by to help me and she came up with two movie stars from the 30's-40's who had the perfect thin moustache. Let's see if these images come up.

If it shows, it is Ronald Coleman

If it shows, it is Robert Taylor, who, like Gable, did not wear a moustache early in his career.

Mother may think of more. Her first utterance, when I asked her who she thought of when she remembered the pencil thin moustaches of Hollywood actors, was "William Powell," followed, of course, by Gable.

It's gotta be Flynn, the rest, while good, are merely poseurs...

No Doubt in my mind, It has to be Errol Flynn.

Considering the picture below, the strong and dense pencil moustache in "Brother…" might have been at least enhanced, or simply glued on.

Morals:

- Who cares, the chap looks sharp with it, and it suits him naturally.
- Techniques improved since Groucho Marx.
- When I can't grow a pencil moustache, at least I'm in good company. :D

I'm not sure who this character is, but he looks awfully familiar. And his mustache actually looks like it was applied with a pencil. A real pencil mustache . . . . . . . . . . .

Looks like Ritchie Blackmore to me. Though I'm not sure if it's him. He does tend to dress up that way at the Renn Fairs though.
