After the phantastic thread on the Romanian photo collection from the 1920-40's I will provide some photographs showcasing period dress and styling in Iran.
A brief historical background:
Iran from 1921-41 under the rule of Reza Shah Pahlavi (father of the last Shah) was modernized along European lines,
including dress. In 1927 men's traditional dress was abolished and Western clothing made mandatory.
Traditional headdress was replaced until 1935 with a black/grey kepi-type peaked hat.
In 1935 the "international hat" (brimmed felt hat) was made mandatory for all Iranian men.
Shortly after the veil/headscarf was abolished for women (police enforced this until 1941, afterwards one could chose).
