Photos Of My Akubra And Stetson With Old Jackets

Hi Folks,

Today, in North Carolina, it is sunny and cold. Very cold. The temperature is predicted to fall into the lower teens tonight and the wind is howling from the North. I've broken out a couple of jackets that I seldom wear, here in the Sunny South. To compliment the jackets, I've added a couple of my newly purchased hats.


First, is my new (to me) Akubra Snowy River. The jacket is a 1964 Southern Athletic N-3B from back it the days when the hood ruff on "N" series Air Force jackets was made from real coyote fur.

The second hat is my previously owned Stetson *** Club. The blue jacket I'm wearing is a 1952 S.H. Knopf N-2A. I've been told that the hood ruff on N-2As was made from badger fur. I wouldn't know because I've never met a badger, personally. The leather jacket is a much newer, issued, 1998 A-2. The A-2 is much more "pedestrian" than the N-jackets, but I think that leather goes with the Stetson much better than does nylon.

Lookin' good AF! I bet you don't get a chance to dig out your winter jackets much. Stay warm while lookin' cool....

Atticus, Two entirely different looks, and both of them great. I'm especially intrigued by the Stetson. Their "*** Club" line covered a wide variety of felts and styles. Yours is the "dressiest" I have seen. I mean that in a very good way.
