"Pleated bows"

It sure was. They even had them in the 30s but they were at the back of the hat. They came back in the late fifties at the back of the hat too. The Pleated bow on the side was around from the 40s through the 50s. They might have been earlier on some European makes though.

Here is another

This is the only one I have with a pleated ribbon. I bought this Borsalino hat new more than five and less than ten years ago. I can’t recall where, but it might actually have been at Syms. It sure doesn’t look like a modern Borsalino and perhaps it was dead stock from a liquidator or made for the European market. I have included several images in case someone can tell me more about the hat.

The third and fourth offer the best view of the “bow.�
