Now available, the first issue of an exciting new high-quality magazine for enthusiasts of 20th Century pop culture -- published by Bob Birchard and Michael Bifulco, two authors of some note in that field. The quarterly publication proposes to cover the movies, radio, television, and music of the century, with a focus on the Golden Era, in an in-depth format. The first issue includes an excellent Birchard piece on the production of the 1933 Warner musical "Footlight Parade," an archival Birchard interview with bandleader Fred Waring, an examination of the contract files preserved by Cecil B. DeMille, an examination of the self-destruction of Charley Chase's film career by Nick Saint Maria, a discussion of James Dean's place in postwar culture by Jim Dawson, and a piece on the true origins of the Columbia Broadcasting System by yours truly.

Ask for it at your local newsstand, or if your local newsstand has been destroyed by the Internet, you can find the first issue at Amazon.

I have no proprietary interest in this publication other than as a contributor -- but it's something aimed straight at the Lounge demographic.
