I didn't find a thread devoted to this, so I hope this is okay...

Anyway, any shot of the sky belongs here- be it a sunset, a sunrise, a storm or anything you find intriguing/relaxing/whatever strikes your fancy...

I'll start with a few of mine:

    Indiana Sunset

    Illinois Night Sky

    Arizona Cloud Formation

(On a side note, please post pictures that you have taken. I tried this on another board and people elected to post pictures they randomly snagged on the internet, which diluted the thread badly. Nice pictures? Yes, but no one credited the original artists!)

  3. Doing early morning feed for yrs, early fall season at my latitude can present the most dramatic lighting just before the sun breaks over the horizon. With the morning quiet it was always a privilege to see.

This happens to be the only pic I have digitized for a quick grab.

The quiet of the morning is the icing on the cake to go with a beautiful sunrise. The dark before the dawn and the breaking is definitely my favorite time of day. But then I've been an early riser and early traveler almost my whole life.

    Great idea for a thread!

Here's a few of the sort of night skies that we enjoy, these are all professional photos of course, as if my litle camera could produce such results.

Thank you! :) I had seen similar threads on other boards that were far less dedicated to photography, so I was somewhat astonished that a sky thread did not exist on a board like this where I see lots of talent. Still, happy to contribute ideas!

Here's one of my favorites- this is a Canadian sunrise taken at Niagara Falls!

No filters or special effects were added to the shot- what you see is how it appeared!

    Oh, those are exemplary! :)

Almost recommend the mods close the thread, as I'm not those can be topped! :)

(okay, maybe not- I'm sure there's lots more good stuff coming!)

These are pics of an evening sky at Split Rock Lighthouse in Minnesota:
