Pre 1940s dress hats

Just to prove that not all hats were of such high quality as the ones above, here's one of interest. Peltrier of Bonneval, France woolfelt hat with backbow from the turn of the previous century. Size 55 (but I can just wear it) with the generous overwelt brim at 5cm and the crown at 11cm at the center dent. Seller wrote that he found it wrapped in a newspaper from 1899 (pity he didn't send that along). The felt is coarse, it doesn't want to hold a shape very well and the finishing materials are pedestrian to say the least. But as a survivor hat I think it's great and it shows the kind of hat likely worn by a majority of people.
The initials in the coat of arms are MJ it seems, but I can't think of a manufacturer with those initials.

Nice find Stefan! I like the style of it! My understanding is that the early 1900s to pre-1940s soft felt hats intended for the working classes are even more rare, since are usually overworn/discarded. There are still considerable more chances to find the upper class ones in mint/unworn condition. So, congrats!

Thanks, Panos. It is indeed remarkable that a hat like this survived at all.

New for me and already announced:
(Thanks to Panos for his understanding ;))

Light brown-gold "ERKO" Velour (Ernst Kohlndorfer, Miesbach) - probably late 20s (I think)
The velour is wonderfully soft and in my opinion comes close to some Hückel qualities.
According to the paper label a 57 (cm), but fits more like a 58 (and thus just enough for me).
Height open crown 16 cm; central dent at a luxurious 12.5 cm; width of brim at 6 cm
Note the beautiful Art Deko logo as well as the handwritten price.
Sold in Bautzen (Saxony) by "A. Fleyel Nachf.[ahren]"

Today, a new Christmas acquisition that does not come from the far north:

P. & C. Habig Vienna " Hausmarke" in a wonderful brown with matching ribbon.
Height centre dent at 11.0 cm; open crown at 15.0 cm; width unbound brim at 5.5 cm
The hat is certainly pre-war, as the dependency "Berlin Friedrichstraße 82a"
did not survive the war as far as I know - I guess later 30s
Unfortunately, the sweat is damaged at the front, as is the lining,
which is loose in many parts - so it needs some work,
but that does not detract from this rare and wonderful hat,
especially as the "size 60" fits me perfectly with a small insert.
(Sorry for the bad photos, but the winter sun rarely shows up at my place...)

C. G. Wilke (Guben) "Blitz" velour in a grey called "Feldgrau" = field grey.
Height open crown at 15.0 cm; centre dent at 10.0 cm; brim at 5.5 cm
The velour felt is great, incredibly soft and flexible - but not to be compared
with my Hückel "Prima" or the "Superior" or a "Sigma - Seal Velour",
but this is rather due to the fact that the velour hair of the Wilke is shorter
(different "quality") and therefore feels different anyway.
