I'd say it's toffee. Brownish-tan. The ribbon is ivory.

Thanks!... it deserves a cleaning and steaming, but I expect it will retain some of its trampy quality.

Worked on this hat today... vigorous brushing vacuuming first removed a great deal of dust, followed by steaming and blocking to an open crown. The steam reactivated some stiffness to the felt which was pretty much a limp dishrag before. Used my flange to add a little firmness to the brim. Easy work. I set a diamond crease for starters. This felt is very thin - every on and off will add dimples. But here is how it is starting out.

Amazing how strong and flexible this sweatband remains at almost ninety years of age. I hope I am half that lucky!

I still love it. I have requested Art to do a repro of it. Thanks for sharing Alan, it cleans up real nice, but lots of character.

the felt is in good condition, one pin sized hole from a moth nip...ribbon is missing a 1/2" piece...sweat is intact but missing about half of it's stitches....
