This survivor No1 cleaned up nice. It even fits ; ) Not exactly sure where this type of size sticker, un-sewn and textured sweat puts hat year wise: 20s-30s? Warren W Joy 1897-1980

Well this bad boy lasted less than seven minutes on eBay. This is one of only a handful of Stetson Chamois hats I have seen, and a BOP too.

It has condition issues, but this moth bites look restricted to the top of the band, and Ignacio will flip it inside out for me.

The sweatband is in tough shape, but I will consider gluing it on to a new sweat and continue to condition it. The leather doctor guy has a leather glue he says is the right pH and chemical makeup for the task.

What were these hats, $3 originally?

The times we fire up the internet .. just moments after some cool old hat's been put up for sale are always fun. I've hit BIN immediate-like and STILL been scooped. That's an incredible old Stetson, Dan and from what I gather about Ignacio he'll bring it back from the ledge. I really need to see more of sweat but personally, if you're gonna' wear it? I'd frame original sweat and simply wear hat w/ a fresh one. I've got one old Stetson where I went to lengths to save sweat .. and there's no comparison between wearing it vs my old BOP w/ fresh which is more comfortable to have on my head and sweat's not still slowly deteriorating. Can't wait to see more when it's in your hands.

I’m glad you got this. I threw a couple bids at it, but I’m glad it found someone who can wear it and put it to proper use.

Thanks, Brent and thanks for not biting too hard ; ) I really gotta sell some hats jeez. I asked Qs before bidding and when hat arrived was pleasantly surprised that rotary emblem on front of hat was merely an old school sticker as opposed to a pin. Brim curl and more of a dress ribbon, plus size ha, checked some boxes for sure. Felt's really got a nice hand to it and besides a little mothing here and there must've lived a protected life. Felt's also thicker and heavier than my other old Stetson westerns.

Great find. There have been a few posted. I remember Justin had a nice one. It was a budget priced Stetson brand. The imprint is charming.

Here's a photo I found of the store, dated 1922

Early Stetson No.1 Quality with vertical inkless imprint. The store name features silver foil which appears on a number of pre-1920 hats I've owned. Not sure what metal was used in the foil stamp but frequently most of it is missing. I'd guess this hat to be c.1920. It has modest dimensions (3" rolled brim, 5 3/4" crown) for a western style.

Number one quality. It had a leather band around it which I removed due to some signs of corrosion which was getting on the ribbon. I then treated the ribbon and leather band to remove the green. I also hydrated the leather band and I think I am going to retire it for now. It’s sitting nicely in a display case. It’s a large hat! I looked through my 1923 catalogue and found a hat that closely fits the description of this fine western
