For sale, is a vintage Borsalino Marque Grande Luxe Fedora in excellent condition, and hat box.
This rare and marvelous quality Borsalino is made from 100% mink. It was very unique, limited in production and quite expensive in its day. An original hat is on display in the factory museum.
The hat is a dark charcoal grey fedora, size 7 3/8 with a 2 ¼” raw edge brim, and perfect matching ribbon. The interior liner has a few smudges. The leather sweatband and entire hat is in excellent condition. The mink is supple, holds its shape, and has a wonderful sheen.
Printed on the production tag sewn under the leather sweatband is “URANIO A2371 22972”.
Imprinted on the leather sweatband is where the hat was originally sold – A. Cambini in Firenze (Florence), Italy, to a customer with the initials E.J.M.
Cambini was a sole agent for Borsalino worldwide and established in 1857 (closed in 1999). A copy of the Cambini store advertising flyer is included.
I have owned this handsome and unique “Borso” for 20 years. Wearing it on special occasions is a joy and always attracts compliments.
