Due to some poor judgement on my part, I took a 30's tuxedo to a dry cleaner's and the lapels were destroyed. I found this website, thanks to a fellow Lounger, however I don't know which material would suit it the best. The original lapels were a very soft satin silk (not grosgrain) and also not overly shiny. There was a subtle sheen, however nothing like modern tuxedos whose lapels light up like reflectors. Any suggestions?

I face samekind of situation. My Jackets other lapel has received too much heat and is bit odd

Maybe the answer is finding vintage fabric similar to it's original or good alternative. Maybe it is tailor job to sew and find good cloth if you demand properly.

Etsy seems good place to find: http://www.etsy.com/listing/121686959/1940s-dress-fabric-black-satin-charmeuse (this cloth is propably too thick but you can find better ones)
