I thought there was a thread on this, but I can't seem to sift through my search. How do I fix a misshapen brim?
I bought a Hat from Johnnyphi, and it needs a tweak.

Thanks,
Clay

Clay -- I've re-shaped brims on a couple of johnnyphi hats. I simply use a bit of steam, making sure to keep the steam away from the inside of the hat, particularly the sweatband. Seems to work just fine.

Just a tiny bit of advice...it really takes less time exposed to steam than you might think. Just enough to loosen things up a bit on one section of the brim, reshape, repeat as necessary on the same part and then move on to another section. That's what I've done, anyway. I don't want to cook it so much that it shrinks!

Another tip - if using a kettle, take some aluminum foil, wrap it into a cone, and mold the large end around the spout and the far end around a dowel or something like that. It will help to focus the steam and keep it away from parts you aren't working with.

Has anyone tried those newfangled super-hot handheld clothes steamers? The kind that shoot out steam (not the "teapot" style). They seem perfect for hats.

that's what I'm using. Seems fine to me, and they're cheap too.

snap the brim down all around, lightly apply steam from the top, pop all dents out with your hands. Let it cool and dry, then snap it back up. This should fix waviness or weirdness to the brim, unless the problem has to do with the brim break being lost.

I'll give that a try first. Sounds easy enough.
