So, I received my Aero Vincent in May and managed to get in maybe 3 or 4 full regular days of wear so far.
Today I noticed a really big & gnarly rip in the leather close to the right collar that does not look like it could have happened from a few hours of wear, especially as this isn't an area where a lot of stress is put on the leather (I think).
I already contacted Aero directly, as well as the Shop I ordered the Jacket through, but I'm not sure what can be done here. It doesn't look like a ripped seam but completely torn leather. On FQHH CXL no less.

No idea what the solution or outcome will be in the end, so I guess I just wanted write this down somewhere to get some frustration out of my system.

Agreed, this isn't something you did, this was done during manufacturing and Aero just hoped the buyer wouldn't notice.... Thats disappointing from them.

That is absolutely rubbish Carlos, utter BS.
I honestly can not figure out what has happened here until I handle the jacket which I will once we get it picked up from the customer but I can assure you that nothing like this would ever knowingly leave the factory, that is fact. I personly studded that jacket as I do all jackets that leave here so I am confident that it didn't leave the factory like that.
It's clear that you are not an Aero fan but accusations like that aren't on.

Wow too bad. I’ve become turned off to aero. Too many reports of zipper issues, poor QC, wild stitching irregularities, ripped liner and now this…

I can assure you that we will be looking after this customer as we do all our customers, we do pride ourselves in our customer service and our aftercare .The customer has bern private messaged and I will be taking it further tomorrow.
We have thourough QC procedures in place, the issues with zips has been addressed with a new supplier, our new Universal zips that we have been using for last 3 years are extremely reliable, with virtually no issues.

I mean we can both agree this is not a tear, it's a cut. We can also clearly see the thread is still intact.

If this didn't happen in production it was done by the seller or the owner of the jacket, are you accusing them of deliberatly damaging that jacket?

I'm not saying you saw it during QC and decided to ignore it, but i can see how someone at one point in the production chain went "not my problem" or "that will be hidden anyway" and here we are.

I alway say "mistakes happen, what's important is how they are dealt with", lets' see how this is dealt with...

As I have said once I have handled the jacket, which we will be collecting from the customer we wll be examining it to try figure out what has happened. Either way the customer is going to be looked after.

And yes you were saying that we just let it go. There isn't much of a chain here so I can assure you that isn't the case.

Denny, let me rephrase, i' didn't mean to imply that Aero as a business knowingly sent a defective jacket hoping the customer wouldn't notice. I was more thinking along the lines of someone screwed up during manufacturing, didn't own up to their mistake and hoped QC would not notice it.

Edit: i am in no way accusing you of trying to deceive a client, i think it's far more likely that someone screwed up and didn't own up to it and QC didn't catch it, which happens, i have received a jacket with a cut in the leather from Lost Worlds, my favourite maker, as well as from Diamond Dave...
It's not completely unthinkable for something liek that to happen.

I'm not getting into it here, but your comment read quite clear , unless you would like to "rephrase it"

I'm sure the OP can keep this thread updated as we deal with it between us. Looking closer at the pics I can see some signs that it has happened after construction, but again jacket needs examined to determine. And either way we will get the situation sorted.

It's late here but I feel the need to say that yes, I was reached out to and Im sure this will be resolved in a positive way.

Also, I just wanted to say that I really don't think there was any malice or intentionally lax QC at play. Please don't make me regret posting about this publicly by implying otherwise or accusing Aero of intentional malpractice. This is not the way.

I will update this thread when it makes sense to do so.

I had 10 jackets from Aero and still have 8 of them. Did everything go smoothly with all of them? Not quite. But Aero never left me out in the cold and always tried to solve the problem. Mistakes happen from time to time, and if a company handles them professionally, then that's okay with me.
I think a solution will be found in this case as well.
By the way... Universal zippers are the solution. They work perfectly.

I have ordered more than 12 jackets and waistcoats directly from Aero. I only had 'issues' with two of them, a busted cosmetic seam at a 30sHB and a broken button (it got stuck at a chair) in my Mariner. In both cases it was resolved immediately and without any single hussle.
That's why I said to the OP to have faith in their CS- it is by far the best I have seen in any single of my hobbies.

I don't know where the notion comes from that this is a blue label or any other kind of "budget" jacket. It's a regular MTO Jacket. I mean, the labels are completely different :D

Anyway, Aero already reached out and I'm currently waiting on how they want to proceed and the retailer also came back to me by now and offered to take it over as a guarantee case. Now I just have to figure out what's the least annoying way for everyone involved to deal with this. No need to bring out the legal ****.

As I said above, I would prefer it if there would not be any assumptions or accusations of this having been done on purpose. That isn't called for.
I don't want to kick the wasp's nest again, but isn't the fact that this is being handled as a "guarantee case" admition that this is a QC issue and that the jacket left Aero that way?

If they thought you had done this yourself then it would not be a "guarantee claim", it would be a repair and you would be liable for the costs...

Once again, not saying that was knowingly done, but by definition a warranty against manufacturing defects covers faults in a product's materials or workmanship, but not issues from misuse or wear and tear.

If this isn't misuse or wear and tear, it is a manufacturing defect!

Not attributing any blame, and I can certainly appreciate the frustration of finding significant issues with your 6 month old jacket, however as you said in your initial post that you’d already contacted both the retailer and Aero Leather was there any need to then to start a thread on here, or at least have waited until after you’d had their responses ?

As has happened, and is clearly continuing to happen, some people jump to various assumptions and make wild accusations based on very little at all, and in the meantime Aero Leather’s reputation is being called into question.

It seems that both the retailer and Aero Leather have already stepped up to the plate and are trying to work to a solution, and I’m sure much of this could’ve probably been achieved without the need for a lengthy thread (which I’m more than aware I’ve been contributing to)

Hm, if I read the OP's latest post then the guarantee refers to the retailer, right?
