I would never have guessed brown comes in so many shades. Every time I think I have "the" brown hat, I see another that entices me.
It has reached the point where my wife is seriously noticing how many hats I have! My closet is filling up. :eusa_doh:
Here is a Stetson with a 2 3/8 brim and 4 1/2 bashed crown. I normally favor wider brims but have found my tastes developing to include short brim hats.

The liner is perfectly clean.

brown

Feraud,

Very nice brown. Browns are like sticking with vanilla or chocolate ice cream, so many variation just on one flavor and not enough time to taste them all.

I came to the lounge a stingy brim man and now more then not sport
a wider brim daily.

Good luck with the wife. My wife rationalizes my hats with the fact i do

not gamble or throw money away in other manners. With hats there is a

tangible value.

Great hat.

I can't get enough browns. There are so many variations it is dizzying and a lot of fun. You have a beautifull looking hat. The 4.5" crown does'nt seem to be so low with he shorter brim porportionally

Believe me I am going to try to taste them all! ;)
My wife is incredible when it comes to my hobbies. We are high school sweethearts and have been through "thick and thin" together.
My hat collection is a "thin". :)

Speaking of stingy brims, I am currently enjoying a Dobbs with a two inch brim. To my tastes the brim is almost nonexistent but I like it a lot.

You are absolutely correct Douglas. I tend to favor wide brims/tall crowns but proportion is very important in a hat.
It has to look...just right to work!

Gorgeous Hat! I'd like to get a "brown" hat to add to my collection in the near future.

2 options: build a secret storage area ala the bat cave

or

convince your wife that the hats are wearable investments to sell when you have passed on and it will benefit her too, like an insurance policy of sorts.

Thanks! I have mostly brown hats and am slowly trying to build a selection of gray.

Option 2 is the more practical of the two so I will go with #1. I am going to build a secret "Hat Cave" behind a bookshelf!

Hidden Options!

This is similar to my brother, who collects electric guitars. He has a stand that holds 6. The rest are hidden in their cases all over the house. As he feels the need, he swaps out one of the guitars in the stand, so the visible collection does not grow but he can play whatever he wants. His wife can't tell one guitar from another but she can count.

It is sort of hidden in plain view, in a way.

I currently do that. My hatrack holds six hats and the others are in hatboxes.
My wife has browsed the Fedora Lounge enough to know the difference between hats. :eusa_doh: I can no longer tell her she is looking at my "brown hat".
Luckily I do not have to hid any purchases from her. She is a good sport about my hobbies. In return I have to watch the Lifetime Channel and go to craft stores. I can live with the tradeoff! :)
