Some might think this is a bit of a shameless cash grab but I think this is a nice release of some funky stuff that they otherwise might not make! Unfortunately it's almost certainly way overpriced, but still some fun designs. Highlights to me are the funky leather blazer and the retro inspired perfecto with a shorter cut, two stars on the epaulets, and longer zipper pocket (and maybe the sleeve zippers are longer too?). If nothing else, a good model for those who think the current models are too long and like a retro fit.

One of my most memorable jackets have been Schott. However, I am not a big fan due to their marketing strategies. Soon I will be thinning my Schott flock. I probably keep my 1980s a-2/g1 cross over,HH xzip,1928 d pocket and a thick suede CF racer. That is all I am keeping. A reddish Japanese market D pocket probably will be my last one from them. It has been in my short list for a long time.

I like the look of the ashbury park and the perfecto style jacket. Are these new leathers too? The ashbury park jacket has an interesting looking horsehide. The perfecto jacket says it’s veg re-tanned steerhide. Is that just chromexcel? Or is it a new leather they haven’t used? They both look nice and short, too.

Was wondering the same, not sure what 're-tanned steerhide' means vis-a-vis their other cow leathers but hoping to check these out in store just to see how they are soon.

That SP6111 seems to check all the boxes for me! 24 inch length, no collar snaps, no underarm footballs, action back and it will take a fur collar. I feel like Schott really nailed this one! If anyone sees some actual measurements of the letter sizing, please share it on here.

I'm ok with Schott making bank with this. Springsteen is surely not even going to notice the slightest difference in money. It looks far better than any other band's leather jacket, so that's plenty already.

The Freehold is an absolute joke compared to the original East West jacket!
I can’t imagine a more watered down, tepid, perfunctory piece of **** attempt. Wrong color, wrong collar and lapel. Awful.

What a huge missed opportunity. Schott made some really cool 70’s styles but this is *****-fied and safe as to be a genuine insult to the senses. In other words, I don’t like it.
Edit. Looking at it closer it’s even worse than I first thought. This looks like a 5 Star Pakistani made, Frank Booth, Blue Velvet rip-off. The price should be sub $100 and come with a plastic airline barf bag. I can’t fathom why they would put this out when in the past they have created some of the coolest 70’s designs imaginable. They need design help, or at the very least some of their own damn archives.

Personally I love the underarm footballs, but I’ve seen a lot of people say they don’t like them. What’s the reason? I feel like they give more range of motion.
I agree, I think they're a huge additive and wish the non-core line of perfecto's had them!

I suppose they might not look as slick/refined compared to normal gussets?

The footballs definitely add some range of motion and the Perfecto models with them seem to fit more comfortably.…perhaps partially from the slightly lower armholes. In my opinion though, the footballs add some bulk, arm diameter and kind of alter the old-school sleek silhouette of the Perfecto.

I also wondered why they neutered the actual jacket this one is supposed to be a replica of! Bizarre choice. Go for it proper or don't go at all.

I think they were trying to hedge their bets on the hippie leather by toning down after the Grateful Dead collab jackets basically didn't sell at all, but they're taking the wrong lesson.

The problem with the Grateful Dead jackets was that they were more or less standard jackets with Grateful Dead patches, not that they went too into 70s fashion.

(Props for making the Springsteen Perfecto actually look like a late 70s Perfecto at least.)

Looking at the measurements on the new Perfecto, does the 18.25 inch shoulder seem a little narrow for a large? I think my size 44 613sh is 19 inches and it’s not exactly V shaped. Bumping to an XL has me a little concerned about across the waist.
I'm probably telling you something you already know but if you're after a vintage cut Schott and aren't over the moon in love with this particular model, I'm certain you could find one on eBay/here/elsewhere online that's from the 70s/80s with a shorter cut for 30% if not 20% of the price of this one. I got and later sold one that was a really great old school fit (though, too cropped at about 23.5 inches in a 44) and saw plenty others like it. The 613 without the collar snaps and with the star often doesn't have a back collar snap for a collar but Schott will add one for you for a small fee. Only thing that might not be super simple is finding one without underarm footballs....

But if you really want this model then I say go for it! Good thing about retail is you can return it if it doesn't fit right.

Hi Jack, I’m kind of doing your plan backwards as I already have Bull Label 618 Perfectos with the configuration that we’re talking about (no snaps, no footballs) in sizes 44 and 46 long. They work but each is just a little off fit-wise. I’ve been looking for a regular size 46 from that era. This new SP6111 kind of added a new twist to the pursuit. If I go with the new one, I think I’m going to try an XL. The trend is that I’ve been missing to the small side with most of my recent acquisitions, so I’m going to try something different.

Nothing more elusive than trying to figure out what the hell a Schott is going to fit like lol. Hope it works out!!

This! Compared to the previous letter-sized Schotts, I’d say this fits about one size smaller.
If I sized up to an XL, I’d probably end up with a fit to my TMC “Durable” copy.

I have to agree. A copy more true to the original vibe may actually have been tempting.
