Hello
I just received my 1980’s Schott Style 141 in size 46 with zip in liner for $70.00.
The Color was worn off all over but in perfect condition no holes or scratches and all zippers perfectly working. I used Pecard Brown Dressing I think came out Great? What do you all think?

I love that 80s 141 model because of the leather they used. I have several models from them using the very same leather. The treatment you made to the jacket, It does look excellent. However, I would have given it a good cleaning with a brush and then nice ones over with saddle soap followed by a quality conditioner. Personally, I stopped using pecards due to damage to cotton thread. Remember, the product you used is mainly a water proofer, which it made your jacket look very nice. The best conditioner I know of is tallow.

Hi. Thank You for your advice. I should have stated that first I did brush first and used Bick 4 Saddle Soap. After that it still looked color wear. At that time I decided to use Picard Brown with a light tint. I did not know the Product affected thread. Yes Schott and other Made in USA Leather Jacket Manufactures can not get this High Quality leather the USA tanneries Closed up now their leather comes from out of USA.

You were correct. I also should just have asked IF the brush and saddle soap were performed prior to pecards. Sometimes, I tint my manteca (tallow) before I apply it to the leather. Cleaning only removes the leather and exposes a healthier surface to work with. Most of the time a good conditioning darkens the leather, and it could be a good or bad thing depending on what your expectations. I approach leather cleaning and conditioning very much like I approach shoes/boot conditioning.

Hi
I am learning from your great advice. Thank you. A little about myself.
I am 67 and have been collecting Schott Jackets for many years. I would make sure I found them in my size so I could once in a while wear them but due to some health reasons, I was forced to lose weight so I went from a size 52 54 to av46-48. The past year I sold off a lot of my shot jackets like 20. I hated to see them go but no sense just keeping them if I could not wear them so I got into finding not too expensive for the jackets. I have bought a few Excelled Leather Company and One Branded Garments Cafe Style and motorcycle style I spent a good part of my day searching all the secondhand sites but I’ve gotten some really beautiful examples from the 90s and 80s that needed a little conditioning like the one I just posted. I some times use Doc Bailey’s Black Conditioner.
