Loden is a type of wool felt. Most of the hat industry in what is the Czech Republic today was Austrian / German. For example the TONAK factory (Nový Jičín, Czech Republic) was J. Hückel´s Söhne main factory (Neutitschein, Austria up to WWI) up to WWII. After WWII all hat factories in Czechoslovakia (all in the Czech area) were nationalized under TONAK. Some of the finest hand brushed wet Velours (known as Austrian Velour) were produced in this area. Like this 1930s JHS Superior Crystall Velour.

I think that's one of the most beautiful hats ever shown here on the TFL

Yes it would be a different factory because TONAK is in the Czech Republic. Selentino is a brand name and not a factory. I wasn't aware they had hats made by other sources. Maybe Besdor (Steven) will know more.

Thanks I should have it some time today I hope tracking saying it is at the postal warehouse. Will get pictures that better than in the ad. I thought strange too as i look the maker and as you said it's a brand name but normally made in the Czech Republic One the other reason for getting it was that it was not the norm to the Brand.

Thanks

JJ Hat Center in New York has some nice Selentinos, particularly the Lexington in the whiskey color. At that price ($175), however, I start thinking custom job, particularly because I have a few 7 3/4's (which is as high as they go), and I really need a 7 7/8. I think my first VS this summer has spoiled me -- a hat that actually fits!

Which style is this Selentinos? I haven't found any listing for any like it . Wait i take that back http://www.bencrafthats.com/product.php?pid=252 I wonder this Selentinos Hat was made in Italy and the is a faded name in site on the sweat band plus the initials. The Name seem to start with a M as well.
going to try to see if i get a good picture and enhance the image to bring the letter up.

That could very well be sanding dust, fur felt hats are actually sanded smooth similar to your kitchen cabinets. Try using your vacuum cleaner to remove any such dust ~ vacuums work great too for general dust, lint, pet hair removal from hats. Just be careful in the vicinity of the hat band & feather so that they don't get damaged!
