That could pass for Tennessee Farmers, North Carolina farmers, Delta farmers, and Kentucky farmers of 1937 as well. Dust farmers, tobacco farmers, or corn farmers ( or rock farmers like my Tennessee kin) all looked about the same

Why would they name a town in the state of Texas "Marfa", but not in the state of Washington? Seems like a silly opportunity missed there.

Marfa was founded in the early 1880s as a railroad water stop. The town was named "Marfa" (Russian for "Martha") at the suggestion of the wife of a railroad executive. Although some historians have hypothesized that the name came from a character in Fyodor Dostoevsky's novel The Brothers Karamazov. Marfa was actually named after Marfa Strogoff, a character in Jules Verne's novel Michael Strogoff.

Various movie productions have filmed in and around parts of Marfa. The 1950 film High Lonesome and the 1956 Warner Bros. film Giant were filmed in Marfa. In August 2006, two films were partially shot in Marfa: There Will Be Blood and No Country for Old Men.
