Getting this thread a little back on track with famous people in hats.

John H. Patterson, founder of the National Cash Register Company.

Hmmm......have I been posting in the wrong thread? I apologize.....I thought this was for period hat picts (though I have posted famous people too). Do we have a thread for family and personal photo collections I should be posting in.:rolleyes:

Edit: Should I be starting one?

I know there's one for family. I think Bob Hufford started it, but I can't remember the title. Always thought non-Shorpy was for general stuff.

I don't think anybody is going to throw you out of the FL for mixing and matching.

Thanks Jim!,

Maybe the non-shorpy but I see a lot of internet archive and online stuff there.

I will try to look up Bob's for family.

Maybe I can start one for personal collections. I have a lot of interesting hat images, only scratch the surface here. One of my true passions is collecting Tableau Tintypes/CDV's and Cabinet Cards (those showing a sort of action scene), especially with drinking and gambling motifs. Like these:

And often they will have their hats on too!;)

Anyway thanks!

I’ve posted a lot on these two threads. Obviously there is some overlap but I’ve always thought this thread is for vintage hat pics where the subject is identified, the non Shorpy thread for vintage hat pics where the subject is not identified & the pic is not part of the Shorpy collection. Family thread for vintage family & selfies. Up to the bartenders to keep it sorted out.

Makes sense to me.

Ted Turner (1938 - 2026)

After buying the screen rights to the Michael Shaara historical novels Civil War trilogy, & bringing Gettysburg (The Killer Angels) & Gods And Generals to the screen, Turner said in an interview that The Last Full Measure would probably never be made. I wish now he had dug a little deeper & got it done. RIP.
