That's a nice one! I really like that green color a lot! I had a grey 707 awhile back but it was a little too snug so I passed it on to my brother. Definitely it was some of the softest felt I've ever laid hands on. Does yours have the little rocket looking pin on the ribbon?
The felt is very nice on this one. The pin, if it had one, is long gone.

Hi All,

This is a hat that I found a few months ago. Working on it kindled my interest in vintage hats. It is a 50's era Dobbs that was in really ratty condition. It got steamed and shaped, the bow ironed, and the liner pulled and cleaned...... I originally wanted to pork pie the hat, but the more I worked it, the more it "spoke" to me and it is now a teardrop pinch front. Merry StingyMas to one and all!

Nice! Do you have any pics of the liner or sweatband?

Yes, the liner. It has been hand washed and the lettering within the green logo is almost gone, from the washing. I did not take the sweatband. You can see the word "Dobbs" sitting at an angle (no carriage) and almost gone. The name the store is completely gone. There are some gold "flecks" there but the whole band is pretty worn.

Way to represent sir! At $16.50 this hat was pretty high end in the early 1960s. Great color and classic lines.

On the third day of Stingymas, my true love said to me..."do you really need another hat!" Of course Santa, I always do. This early 1960s Cavanagh 30 has been in my stable for a while, one of my favorites. If there ever was a poster child for the Stingy Brigade, this hat fits the bill. Incredible felt, Cav edge (of course, they invented it) and a rich dark chocolate color. This style from the early 1960s was all the style, a favorite of Frank Sinatra and the Rat Pack.

Dobbs seems to be making a presence on this third day of Stingymas, so I might as well continue the trend:

A nice Herringbone tweed that could come in handy to keep my head warm. It's supposed to be in the high-40s (°F) tonight, which is pretty cold for this part of southern California.
I like those funky 60s-ish liners some oh these type of hats had.
