99¢ Yay! I hope all the pieces are there.

I was watching that one! In a wool double knit, that would be great for winter.

Thanks ladies.

This will be my last 38 bust pattern, scout's honor. This pattern seems to get around, so I thought I should get one. And it was cheap too! :)

These patterns are a funny story.
They were listed at $292.36 :eusa_doh: with an "or best offer"
So I just decided to put some reality in the situation and wrote this:

Hi. Are the patterns checked for all the pieces? None are really in re- sellable or even collector condition. They are all in a state of severe deterioration. They wont sell for $300 or close to $100. With me they would go to a good home :) Thanks

I made an offer of $40. It was ignored. So after it expired, as a joke I raised my offer to $41. They accepted.
Im all about that DuBarry gown, and I hope that all the pieces of the patterns are there.
I guess the moral of the story is even if it is out of your reach, take a chance.

Nearly $300!?!?! What were they thinking? I'm glad you got such a bargain. However, I just have to point out that this lot is one of my main gripes about eBay. If you're selling a lot, please try to make them all similar items! Someone who is wild about collecting 1920s patterns probably isn't interested in the random 1950s dress.

I think thats the risk of lots. Not all of them can be groomed. I look at sizing most anyway, and 4 are 40+ bust.
I just hope all the pieces are there, Im gonna be cheesed if they are not.

vintage patterns

I picked up a couple vintage patterns off ebay, but realized that vogue and butterick do have repros of a few original patterns from the 40s and up. Might be worth a look if you are curious. www.butterick.com look under retro and vogue under vintage (same website). These are offered in all sizes and abilities and also go on sale once in a while. They also have vintage hat patterns which I have not tried yet. My sewing machine is still packed, but I plan to drag it out and get busy sewing, since it is impossible to find vintage dresses in my size.

Thanks, retromama. I'm not opposed to repro patterns as some days I just don't have the energy to figure out the originals! lol

Lady Day, after I saw this, I drew up the courage to do the same with an unrealistic Swirl seller.. and it worked :)
Thanks for giving me the idea (and some guts!) x

Wow, LD! I'm glad she took it! lol at raising it to $41! lol
Hope the pieces are there! I'm still grumbling about one I won for a lot and nearly every pattern was missing a piece. Grr... But I guess that's the risk! Love the evening dress at the bottom- the old DuBarry one.

Here's some I've added to my stash over the last few months. :D

vintage patterns

You are welcome, Bo Peep. I would love to have more original patterns, but I am not talented at resizing yet and many of the vintage ones are too small for my frame. Any ideas on the easiest way to resize? I read about Lutterloh but not sure if this works for resizing patterns. Any help would be appreciated since I am a beginner. Thanks in advance!
