I just got this from Etsy, I'm so happy to finally found a princess coat pattern I can afford! All those like this have sold for about $20 (or more) on eBay. Patience pays off.

I love this style.
I have a coat like this but it's sizes too small.

This one is actually 4 sizes too small but I'm going to re-size it slowly and carefully! I probably won't start working on it until Autumn. Right now I've got a spring jacket and 50s dress on the table..

This kinda cracks me up. This pattern was one of my first vintage patterns. The first time I bought it, it was a size 14 and my first grade up. While the dress was always one of my favorites, I was never happy with how my grading was in certain places. I managed to find it in size 40 last week. My high bid was the highest I have ever bid on a single pattern, because I already know I love the dress. I was lucky and got it for about half my highest bid.

I found some fantastic magazines and patterns in Luc-Sur-Mer, Normandy 2 weekends ago. We had spent 2 day's at a Retro Festival in Caen and decided to go to the beach on Sunday afternoon, we were rewarded with a street carboot/ garage sale in rue de la mer. At home I normally go to a car boot sales every Sunday so I'm a keen bargain hunter with an eye for a bargain. The 'Femmes d'Aujourd'hui' magazines cost me 3 euros for 14 mags, full of great articles and photo's. The man also produced another pile of papers which on closer inspection were pattern supplements from the magazine, there are about 100 patterns from 1956 & 1957, on asking how much, he said 3 euros! Wow, I couldn't believe my luck, my lovely boyfriend carried the magazines for me and we found a 1960's French army rucksack to carry them in for 5 euros, I bartered down from 10 euros, which is amazing because I don't speak that much French.
All I've got to do now is decide what I want to make, I've never had so much choice. The only downside is that the instructions are in French, but I'm sure I can manage.

That's such a wonderful find, poggleberry - many congratulations! I love the "Robe bretelles et chemisier" pattern, especially the chemisier part.

This is my favorite pattern, I love the button hole detailing down the front of the dress, I have always liked the detail on sailors trousers so this dress appeals to me.

I just got myself this:

It's way too big for me, but I'm going to use it to practice sizing a considerably large garment down. Alos, I collect Hollywoods and look how pretty it is! Hollywoods are always the best patterns, IMO. And I know what year they all came out because they are date stamped on the back!

*GASP* Now I know why you want to have a *** sewing day! I have to help you size this down- I get it now! Lol- I'm just teasing. Good find!

What a great find.:eusa_clap I really like the 'blouse drapee'. Would I perhaps be able to copy it? Also, if you need a hand translating the instructions, I speak french fluently and would be glad to help.

I'm exactly the same!

I'm building up a collection of vintage patterns, but too worried to actually make them up. I don't want to waste a whole load of fabric.

Practice on muslin. You can get it for .99 a yard sometimes, Make it once and if you mess it up you'll know what you did wrong before you ruin good fabric. Promise it'll make you work longer but you'll get better at sewing in no time.
