I personally feel as if the more important issue is not whom blocks Mr. Blacks hats but more important that his hats are blocked well.

This is old faithful here, A belly beaver from antiquity witha Westernish flair and a fedora feel. I personally love the unique bow but I know this is not for all. I brought a whole CD of hat pictures with me to look over and I have to say some many fine creations on it. This is one I had taken of my personal hat.

I'd live to see MK's Optimo Bogie and sharpetoys' panama. This one may be a bit western, but I dig the design. Imagine a fedora mating with a western hat--and in nice thick beaver.

I don't know... I am usually quite restrained about commenting on other folks hats, but in my honest opinion, Trent Johnson's "dress" hats

(such as this example: )
dress.jpg

are quite possibly the ugliest Eastern Dress hats I have ever seen, and this includes his Aficionado.

Perhaps this is because I am from the East coast, but I personally cannot possibly see a person of "power and stature" wearing something like that green hat in that picture. It would look splendid on a pimp, however.

I think that maybe he is just too ingrained in the Western hat making tradition to make a good looking, traditionally Eastern-styled hat. (at least going by what he has posted on his website)

That said, his Western hats look terrific.

Agreed

I ONLY like Trent Johnson's Afficiano in the STRAW. It is a nice blend of "Fedora" with "Plantation".

I think he is like "Jackson Hole" hatters, they have western weight and finish, and do dress hats in that body.

Have to agree partly with Zohar on that green hat. In Chinese to say you are wearing a green hat means that your wife has affairs with other men. Nothing more insulting for a Chinese man!

Totally right on about Trent. His dress, if you click on the samples, look more like Western hats to me than a cool, classic fedora. And they feel more like Western dress hats than fedoras.

Even the aficionado in the light weight dress material doesn't strike me. They are made real well, though. Real well.

But the medium weight aficionado is awesome, and looks great on me. You can't believe how substantial beaver material feels. I love the aficionado with a reduced brim size. A kind of new classic.

Hi Art, great brim, brah! That's the ne I say on another thread, and it looks great with the maroon ribbon.

What is the crown hight in front? like 4-1/2inches?

Isn't that really a picture of FEDORA? Kinda like the movie "the shaggy dog" ...he's turned into a BEAVER.

LOL LOL LOL Sounds like you need a refill on those smart pills. They must be helping though. You haven't asked for the refund.;)

Here is a hat worn by real men, and worn by a real man. Ain't no sissy hats allowed in my house. Giddy up.

A manly hat indeed. It looks like you got some fuller's earth on it though.
Where is the beaver in the picture? LOL
