I've thought about that too, but have not tried to fix any yet. Has anyone tried getting the string wet, then drying it with a blow dryer, using some heat?

RBH, I looked at the pic of your campdraft in the other post and I can see the slack you are talking about. I've experienced this too, but remember that the button is supposed to sit behind the bow, so I've always just pulled the button around to the back of it and it usually tightens up. But when I say tightened, it's tight in looks only since it's not elastic, it just kinda sits there looking tight but it can be easily moved if you turned the hat upside down. Does that make sense? The elastic ones can be made truly tight but the others are more what I'd call snug.

I agree with fedoralover. If we're talking about the same thing, RBH, I just take the button and slide it toward the back of the hat until the windstring becomes taut.

Cheers,

It's so much easier to fix on the non elastic kinds. I have elastic on some borsalinos, and if that stretches out, you're just screwed.

Hello-
I had a saggy string in a Borsalino.
I hung it in freshly boiled water for a little while then dried it with a towel and then with a hairdryer- I was in a hurry. It shrunk the cord down a little- enough that it was snug and sat in the right spot.
It was rayon cord, not elastic.

Awright, bellytank - thanks for sharing your experience with shrinking. I needed to hear that - maybe I will get up the nerve to try it on some that are just a little bit loose.
