My wife and I are getting ready to drive back to Missouri to see her family, so I bought a couple of new CDs to entertain us along the road. They were at the local Wally World for $8 apiece. Not bad compilations, considering they were remastered from vinyl.

iPod, ha! Who's got money for an iPod? ;) I've got a twenty dollar portable CD player that's plugged into the cassette deck in my car. It works for what we need. When iPods come down to twenty dollars, I'll probably get one. Knowing Apple, they never will be that cheap!:)

iPods are great for the road but once the battery runs down its just you counting the splattered bugs on the windshield. At least with a CD player you can bring extra batteries. Don't get me wrong, I love my iPod (I have the old one, "Wow the wheel actually turns!" remarked a colleague") but the battery life is horrible. Enjoy your trip! :jeep:

Brad, I apologize, I thought you had posted about an iPod, but it was someone else.
Uberneot, I have the same model, and I still get at least 7 or 8 hours out of the original battery. Yours can be replaced pretty cheaply if you're brave enough to pry it open.
