Steve Harvey Hats?

Hello all,

I've been seeing "Steve Harvey" hats being sold on Ebay. I believe they are made of "pony hair".

They command a premuim price, but look kind of like flavor of the month hats. Anyone know anything about them?

Steve Harvey is the standup comedian and host of the highly (macaroni and) cheesy TV variety called Showtime at the Apollo.

The hats are made by Dobbs and tend to be somewhat showy in style. It all seems very target-marketed to the "playa" demographic as part of the "Steve Harvey Collection" - 4 button zoots, matching tie and hankey, etc.

As for quality - don't know nuthin', but I'd be surprised if they're any better than a typical present day Dobbs hat. The sell is the sizzle, not the meat.

The title paraphernalia, in my opinion, is not worth the time or the effort used to make them. In my opinion they are just a cut about buying from regular everyday wear street vendors.. You are correct in that they are geared toward the Playa. However, a snazzy Playa will not be caught dead in Steve Harvey clothes. Steve's name commands a higher price among a select few, in a certain cultur. Looking at many of the young snappy dressers, Sean Puffy Combs has class with his line of clothes. Very much 1920 - 1940. Steve Harvey hats, in my opinion, are gar-barge, if you know what I mean. He wouldn't know about a Dobb Double Life, if you gave him one.

Well, some would agree in regards to modern Dobs lids, too. But they have to go hand in hand, because Steve Harvey hats are just variations on existing Dobbs hats. Most of them look a fright, but quality is equal to any other Dobbs.

I only own a couple of straw Steve Harveys... surprisingly tame. They're comfortable, well made, and draw many compliments, even from those outside "a certain culture."
