They were worn until the 1980's, so there are plenty on the surplus market - definately try sabres before going for a repro - you'll save yoursefl about £50!
You're after what's called a RN (Royal Navy) jumper, they came in natural wool colour and dark blue. And as you know they were popular with RAF pilots as well. As Cobden said surplus is the cheaper option.
The RAF during the war also had what was called a frock, similar to the RN jumper but without a rollneck collar. Rather it had a high, and slightly floppy collar. This was produced in natural wool.
