I've used Picards and Lexol OldSkool. Just apply it to the leather using a cloth . let it dry, then wipe off the residue. It will clean and condition at the same time.

Thank you, Art. I use Lexol on my shoes, thus I have some. Any danger if it touches the felt? How careful should I be?
