Ooooh, that does look nice. I kind of expected it to be a MGL (Marque Grand Luxe), which these Borsalino velours usually are.

Just got my first Borsalino off of the ebays. I THINK I got a good price, as I haven't actually seen a San Remo for sale there before (which, truth be told, doesn't mean much since the vintage hat addiction only kicked in a few weeks ago now)... But, for $60 shipped, it came in very nice condition (even had the wind trolley bunched up in the bow, now wrapped properly). From what I can tell from the tag/etc, it might be early '60s?? (again, not much I can find about it, though I've seen mention that it was a popular hat in the States...). All in all, I'm really impressed by it. (My wife used the term 'luxurious' when she felt it...)...

Nice looking hat and "lupo" is a good colour. This label was used pretty much all through the sixties.

I’m not a fan of the styles of the Avgvsta hats but the felt is great. Diamanté Twenty Five with 5 1/2” open crown and 2” wide brim with an underwelt. The felt is a short nap velour with a great hand.

I don’t know what it means, but I believe it was a line of hats. The quality is great, but I’ve yet to see one yet where I really liked the style. Maybe some of our resident Borsalino experts will enlighten us?

Well, any word which has no vowels in contemporary languages, is generally unpronounceable.
The Roman alphabet had no letter U, but they used what we now call “V”. It’s easier for stonecutters to carve.
The manufacturer of the hat is simply reflecting a Roman heritage. (I think)

It's just augusta as in Augusta Georgia, Brent. As has been mentioned, it's a Latin spelling.

Borsalino Peluche. 6” open crown and 2 3/4” brim finished with an underwelt. The felt is wonderfully soft and easily dry creased; however, it is so easy to re-shape I might steam in a shape to get it to hold.

Great hat but it unfortunately has some light moth damage. The brim is approximately 2 5/8” and the open crown 5 1/2”. Wonderful felt that is easily dry creased into any shape. French Point size 6 or US 7 3/8.

A very nice homburg. I love the gill bow keeper and the cream sweatband. Size is 5 French Point/Punti or US size 7 1/8:
That's a cool find. Nice proportions and it even has a bit of a reverse taper going on. Even the liner is still stitched in and that in 1977.
