Hi Guys,
Found this hat but have no infos as to how old it might be or the name of this model.
Felt is "Qualita Superiore" size 60
Liner is black with gold stamping.
What kind of felt is it?
Could I have lucked out and have a pre Borsalino bankrupcy ( pre- 2017) hat ?
Inside sticker :
Cod. Col. 01A 000 566
111148 0421 60
Thank You in advance for any and all infos anyone can provide.

Borsalino used this type of label from the early eighties onwards to this day. Their liners haven't changed much in this period as well. Pretty certain this is rabbit felt because the hat would say so if it was beaver or nutria. Their financial troubles, or rather the financial troubles of their owner, didn't affect the quality of their hats. So there wouldn't be a difference other than price between a hat that was produced before and one that was produced after that financial jiggery pokery.

This Borsalino Marque Grand Luxe (MGL) arrived a couple days ago. It appears to have a replacement sweatband with nothing but the previous owners initials for a marking. The sweatband is of high quality and expertly fitted. The size is 7 ½, and as far as I can tell fits true to size. The open crown is approximately 5 ½ inches and the raw edge brim is 2 ½ inches. The felt is incredibly soft as all MGLs are. It’s too small for me, but I couldn’t help wearing it at least once.

Those are always wonderful. Cool find, Brent and it's a mirtillo colour as well.

I bought this Borsalino last year. It's made for the German market, hence "Echter Borsalino". But I'm not sure, if this really is a Borsalino, because the remains of the center badge don't look like any Borsalino logo I've ever seen. Is this maybe just a Borsalino Sweatband?

On the other hand: I've seen a pretty similar Borsalino (same colour, hat band, over all appearance of the crown and brim) recently, which had a reeded sweatband and was fully lined (allegedly from the 70s).

Can anyone tell me more about the production date? I would guess 50s, but the Store (imprinted on the sweatband) seems did not exist anymore after the war. So could this also be a pre war hat? (nothing more behind the sweatband than this hand written number)

Nice looking hat, but there's not much to go on to say anything really. There's no label and there's not enough information on the crown patch to give us a time-period. The sweatband looks a bit suspect to my eye, like it came from another hat and was used as a replacement. The stitching is not as neat as we'd expect from an Echter Borsalino.

Another Borsalino Mink, 10 Stars, Marque Grande Luxe, bought earlier this year. Has 2 inch brim. Size 4 1/2. I had a Senior Moment and kept thinking it was a 5 1/2, so too small for me. Tag says Cafro or Cafbo, I think for color.

That is quite special. We've never seen a ten star mink MGL before. The colour is Cafro. Odd that there is no model name on the label of this type.
