The BORSALINO BROTHERHOOD

I bought my second Borsalino online, which arrived yesterday in great, almost unused, condition (only a little dusty). Metric size 60 and seems true to size (I'm 60.5, and this fits, but snug). If anyone could help me dating it, it would be highly appreciated. It has been sold by Paul U. Bergströms/PUB in Stockholm, Sweden, which existed for the most parts of the 20th century, so that does not help much with the dating.

The photo of the label is not that clear (my bad...). It says:
T3288, 25782
MORELLO, cm. 60 (colour and size, I presume)

We see this type of label from 1961 to 1972. Nice find; Morello is a colour we don't see much.

Picked up a Borsalino real cheap. 2 inch bound brim, 1 3/4 ribbon. Quality-superior.
Got that vintage look, like something Clark Kent would wear in the 60's.
older-type label I'm not familiar with. Interpretations, please?

Hello everyone! I am not been writing since long time because of the fact that I have always little time (sigh!) to dedicate myself. Hope that all of you are good and that also you are going on with your historic hat hunting (fortunately I'm going on having the time for it..at least).
With this post I wanted to say sorry for my long absence (I have missed all of you, you all are so nice people) and also to share the last stunner I have found: an incredible NOS Borsalino "Trionfo" in dark grey, NEVER worn, size 6 1/2 (!) French Punti, guess early to mid-1930s, coming from a 120 years old hat shop named "CAPPELLERIA CESARE CRISTINA" that has closed down some months ago in Lombardy. This hat has been stored in a hat box for the last 80 years I think. Very very interesting shape, GIANT full crown, semi-circled brim, very elegant spotted sweatband, ribbon flake on the back. Unfortunately it's impossible to see the codes printed on the inner label because I can't even move the inner fabric strip of the sweatband hiding it, since I fear to rip/ruin it. It is possible that the problem will be solved when I will be ironing the hat, but I am not sure.
For my size 59 head it seems to be "too much" comfortable, so I think I will put a cork strip to adjust it a bit. In the mean time I'd just love to show you the hat and I would also love that you make me know what you think about it.
I still have so many rare and beautiful hats to show you that I have been finding here and there in this last year I am not been writing! I am looking forward to showing them. See you soon!

I believe that label type.. cerated top and bottom with straight sides.. would point to early to mid 1960s So matches up with your 60s Clark Kent ;)

Thank you, Blare. Hey, maybe the number to the right means year 1959? August 12 or hat number 812 or something.

The model calls itself Torino, which I'm told means the city of Turin. Imported by Patterson Fletcher of Fort Wayne. And here's my ugly mug wearing it. I just need a Superman shirt. Not a bad deal for $35 I must say.

I have never seen a Borso with this design. Found on a local marketplace website for $50. So, I snatched it up. Has anyone here seen this style before? Guess I will know more when it arrives and I can peek under the hood. ;) View attachment 550346 View attachment 550347
These are actually quite common. A late seventies style (I believe) to try to cater to the more fashion forward crowd. Borsalino was losing money in a hurry then and tried everything to get people to buy hats.

Good to see you posting again, Francesco. Always a treat when you do and you don't disappoint this time either. Great find and wonderful looking hat. Looking forward to the others finds already.

Whatever became of the old Borsalino color chart that used to be here? I see links to it, but it no longer displays the page. Too bad. I was trying to find info on this old Borso.
