Durable Horsehide Cafe racer? c.1954
I found little about the Durable company. Brando's leather jacket in The Wild Ones is thought by some to be made by Durable. They were a Canadian brand. If you have any information on the company post it, I would be interested. I did find information on the Lang Tanning company. The...www.thefedoralounge.com
So the were definitely two Durable companies, one in Canada and one in the US.

Apparently they did, see trade mark register in the post aboveNo Durable USA company (if it actually existed) would set up shop using the same name, same font, in the same industry and same continent, without asking for legal troubles.

I'd never heard of it, and then I saw archived copies of that publication today, and it was beautiful. I mean, the cover photography looked way ahead of its time.Lovely research.
The funny thing is back in 2007, TFL, Style Forum, and Ask Andy were all about Apparel Arts. I expect if the Durable topic had come up then, there probably would have been a user who'd just seen the ad in one of this issues!

It appears that the Canadian Durable (Du-Val) still made very desirable jackets.View attachment 742596

This is what Himel was talking about. One label has the manufacturer and one doesn’t which usually means that they licensed their trademark to other manufacturers.
