Just finished reading the 3 volume series "Liberation Trilogy" by Pulitzer Prize winner Rick Atkinson.
I strongly recommend it to those with an interest in WW2.
Atkinson does a masterful job of describing the major battles of the western campaign and the military and political personalities involved while mixing in poignant looks at the lives of the soldiers fighting the battles.
Best historical WW2 writing I've come across.
